Washington Huskies Football Team
Washington Huskies football team is a member of the Pac-12 Conference. Among its facilities on campus are the football stadium generally known as “the Husky Stadium”, Husky Ballpark (Baseball), the Nordstrom Tennis Center, Hec Edmundson Pavilion (Basketball, Gymnastics, and Volleyball), Husky Softball Stadium (Softball), the Conibear Shellhouse (Rowing) and the Dempsey Indoor practice facility. Recently, the Husky Track was an addition to the school facility, and it was located just north of the Husky Ballpark. And finally, the golf team's home course which is situated at the Washington National Golf Club in Auburn.
Over the years, The University has had 28 head coaches since its first appearance in 1889 season. The Huskies have featured in more than 1,100 games over 122 seasons. During this period, eight Coaches have been given different chances to showcase their expertise by leading the Huskies in postseason bowl games, they are; Enoch Bagshaw, James Phelan, Ralph Welch, Jim Owens, Don James, Jim Lambright, Rick Neuheisel, and Steve Sarkisian.
Some exceptional coaches like; Bradshaw, Gil Dobie, Phelan and Claude J. Hunt proved their worth by winning some major competitions. They won conference championships; they had it all in their pockets.
Also, Lambright, Jim Owens, James and Neuheisel won a combined 11 as a member of the Pac-10. However, during James tenure, he won the national championship with the Huskies. Also, he is the leader in seasons coached; he had 153 victories during his 18 years domination.
Dobie is the only trainer who has the highest winning percentage among them all. He has bagged this record with .975. Conversely, Stub Allison has the lowest winning percentage with .167.
Out of the 28 different head coaches who had led the Huskies, Owens, Dobie, James, Darrell Royal, and Phelan were all initiated into the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Indiana. Chris Petersen is the current Washington's head coach, hired in December 2013.
